LTAP AZ stands for Local Technical Assistance Program Arizona. It is a program that exists to help Arizona's local public agencies better identify and utilize existing transportation resources at their disposal. LTAP AZ helps local agencies cope with the ever-growing transportation demands they face by providing access to technical and management materials, delivering on-demand technical assistance and training, and by maintaining a vast network of communication with industry experts.

By delivering new concepts and ideas, training, technical assistance and by disseminating research results and new technologies for both transportation providers and users, LTAP AZ is paving the way as a leader in transportation information exchange. Whether you need to learn how to operate heavy equipment, design safer intersections, implement asset management, or apply for grants, LTAP AZ has something for you.

Success Stories from LTAP AZ Clients

Local Innovation Spotlight

One of the ways that LTAP AZ showcases the achievements and innovations of its clients is by featuring them in the Local Innovation Spotlight section of the Arizona Milepost newsletter. This section highlights how a local agency used LTAP AZ resources to solve a transportation problem or improve their transportation system.

For example, in the Spring 2023 issue of the Arizona Milepost, LTAP AZ featured the Town of Gilbert and how they used LTAP AZ's technical assistance to implement a pavement preservation program. The Town of Gilbert contacted LTAP AZ for help with developing a pavement preservation strategy that would optimize their limited budget and extend the life of their road network. LTAP AZ provided the Town with guidance on how to conduct a pavement condition survey, how to select the appropriate pavement preservation treatments, and how to prioritize their projects. As a result, the Town of Gilbert was able to save money, improve their pavement quality, and increase their customer satisfaction.

If you have a success story that you would like to share with LTAP AZ and other local agencies, you can contact LTAP AZ
